Paintings, Drawings, Movies

You will need a macromedia shockwave and flash player to see these movies. If you don`t have the players you can download them free at:    http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/

The work on this page is selected from the last six years.

In 1999, I got a Mac computer and immediately started to make animations in Director. My `actors` for these movies were composed from scanned photo jpegs and drawings, often in combination. I got involved in what you could call a series of toy tableaux, and these small dramatic moments continued when I began drawing Flash animations a short time later. While I drew the animations into the computer and drew the sketches into my books, I was still accumulating a huge amount of photographic source material. I began to manipulate some of these images in Photoshop and followed that by taking more photos, thinking how I could use them for further effect.

At this point I think my drawings, movies, and photography are reciprocal, mutually supportive.

Below are thumbnails for six categories. Especially in some of the paintings and photographs there is a an illustrational orientation, but as usual, the real motivation is simple visual curiosity.
